A WALK TO REMEMBER

This afternoon I decided to take Logan outside and go for a walk. Three things: I hardly ever walk just because, I couldn't have picked a colder day to venture out, and I am seriously outta shape and need to do more walking, lol (Note to self).

Anyways, we went for the walk following the tractor path Roger takes around one of the fields to get round bales or to spread manure on another field. It took about 45 minutes and we didn't run into any trouble except for one small episode.

On the way down we had to cross over this little gulley to get to the other field and since we have lots of snow, neither one of us had any problems walking on the snow, i.e., we didn't sink into the gulley. On the way back was a totally different experience. I went first and attempted to retrace our steps from the first cross. My one leg goes through and I'm up to my hip in snow, lol. I crawl out.

Now it's Logan's turn. I figured if she kinda hugged the fenceline she'd be okay so I told her to just circle wide, where she had previously been standing looking at the little stream that runs through our property with no problems. That didn't quite work out the way I planned it, lol. She took a couple steps and I thought she was home free...WRONG!!! Both her legs go through and she's up to her waist in snow, and boy does that kid have a set of lungs on her, she screamed so loud!!

After I pulled her outta the snow, I thought we were going to have a good laugh about the whole ordeal...WRONG AGAIN!! She was in no laughing mood. It really scared her. She said she was afraid the woodchucks were going to bite her tooders (that's what we call her toes, lol, pronounced like the word should). And then her pants were wet and she got cold, and then her legs were hurting from all that walking, and then her nose started running from crying, and then her cheeks started burning from the tears, and then...well, you get the picture. It was all downhill from there, but it was nice while it lasted.

Unfortunately, I did not get any pictures of Logan stuck in the snow, although I would've loved to, she would've thought it was funny later on, because I didn't have a camera card in and my internal memory was full, but I did manage to get a few pictures on our walk down the path.

This photo has Vale, Colorado written all over it, lol

ANOTHER FINE PERFORMANCE

I actually didn't hear one intelligible word in this whole performance until the end when Logan asked me, "Was that Gorgeous?"

(Again, you'll probably need headphones to hear this, my camera for some reason doesn't record the sound very loud at all and so far I haven't figured out how to record it louder, if you even can, lol.) Maybe it's as simple as just standing closer.

RANDOM THOUGHTS FOR MONDAY

LILLY MAE THEN AND NOW

On August 18, 2008, I posted about my cousin Justin and his wife Trish and the arrival of their daughter Lilly Mae on August 8th who only weighed in at 4 lbs. 6 ozs.

This is the picture of Lilly Mae a week after her birth...

And this is Lilly Mae now! How she has grown! My Aunt Sues, Lilly Mae's grandma, sent me these pictures just last week and I just had to show you all the difference.

What a chunk!!

ROBOTS TO BECOME SENTIENT BEINGS?

Now, I do not profess to be a rocket scientist and I never did attend "I'm Smarter Than Any Human Alive University," but I do have somewhat of a brain and I may be smarter than the average bear. So when I read this headline on FOXNews.com, "Experts Warn of 'Terminator'-Style Military Robot Rebellion,"I thought there had to be some kinda twist separate and apart from the obvious meaning of the title. So I hit the link and wahla no twist, the article is exactly about what the title describes. You can't make this stuff up!

Our own U.S. Navy, who under normal circumstances I have the highest respect for, under the division of the Office of Naval Research actually are saying that they believe that robots at some point will start thinking on their own because {let me get this right} teams of programmers have written millions of lines of military code and each does not know what the other has written thereby somehow "creating" (and that's what they'd be doing if these robots suddenly started thinking for themselves) possibly machines that can override and think above and beyond what they've been programmed to do.

OH, COME ON!!!

Now, you all remember the big scare that started around the end of 1998, the big Y2K scare? How many of you went out and bought generators or added just a little bit more to your pantrys? Come on, you know you did! Well, I never bought into that one either. I couldn't fathom that these intelligent people who had written all these programs would actually allow two little bitty zeroes to bring down our nation's defense system and every other computer based operation in the world, AND that they actually didn't notice until a few years before the year 2000 that it was going to cause all this mass destruction. But do you know how much money was spent by consumers preparing and stocking up? $100 billion. $100 billion. I'll say it again...$100 billion.

So please, please, please don't be afraid that robots are going to start thinking on their own and "come to life" and realize that we humans are insignificant and need to be destroyed. And please don't think you now need to install huge lead lined pits of molten steel or lava or whatever else you can think of that would be hot enough to kill these robots. Because as any SciFi aficianado would know, ultimately that is what destroyed the "Terminator."

So long for now, but remember until tomorrow...

"I'LL BE BACK!"

WHAT A TRANSFORMATION!

A lot of the blogs I follow are of families that have adopted internationally through a country's special needs program and quite a number of the children are born with cleft lip/cleft palate. Some have the plastic surgery to repair their cleft lip before they are adopted, but most don't have the surgery until they get home to the United States, and the transformation is unbelievable in these children.

This is a video I saw on one such blog I follow that is a segment that was featured on The Early Show this morning, and although this is not a video about adoption, it is a video about the impact this particular surgery can have in a child's life.

WHEN IN ROME.....

My sister-in-law Amanda sent this to me last week and I loved it, but have debated putting it on here. Finally, I realized that this is my blog and I can put whatever I want on here and I HAVE OPINIONS which I shall express and still have the right to express, that is, until our present administration takes them all away!!!

I'll say it again,

IT'S GONNA BE A GOOD WEEK!

Since being chastised this morning from my very, very good friend Sharon about not blogging much last week, I have decided to make an effort to blog about something every day this week. A few posts I'm sure will be thought provoking and profound {giggling}, some will be intelligent and informative {giggling a lot}, but most will be just plain meaningless and mundane {laughing hysterically}. So for all of you who subscribe, I'm very sorry, and you can email your complaints to Sharon at ladybug...(Sharon, I had you going for a little while; didn't I?)

Let the games begin.

Today's theme is (drum roll, please) TUESDAY. I know I think of the best things!

And for the grand finale!!!

Miss Ruby Lee Tuesday!!!

HUSBAND TAG!

I saw this particular tag on a fellow photo contestant's blog and she invited anyone who wanted to do it to start their own tag, so here goes nuttin! Tag as many people as you'd like!
  1. What's your husbands name? Roger
  2. How long have you been married? 10 years this August 21st
  3. How long did you date? A little over a year. We started dating the beginning of August 1998 and were married the following August 1999.
  4. How old is he? He turns 43 next week, February 16th.
  5. Who eats more sweets? Are you kidding? He is like a snack hound.........no, seriously, I beat him no contest, hence the reason my thighs are larger than his.
  6. Who is a better singer? I am. He can carry a tune, but let's just say, he's limited, lol
  7. Who is smarter? We are equally intelligent, but in different areas. How PC was that answer?
  8. Who does the laundry? I do up at the house, and he does his barn clothes in the washer down at the barn.
  9. Who pays the bills? He handles all the money. Trust me, it's better that way!
  10. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If you're facing the bed, I do.
  11. Who mows the lawn? I got this one. He has over 120 acres to hay in the spring/summer. I do the lawn.
  12. Who cooks dinner? Neither of us. My daughter does all the cooking. I know, we're spoiled. She's peeling potatoes as I type.
  13. Who drives? I really prefer to and do most often. He doesn't like driving on roads not covered in dirt.
  14. Who is the first to say they are wrong? Neither one of us is very good at it. We tend to agree to disagree a lot of times.
  15. Who kissed who first? It was mutual, but it you want to be technical he came towards me first, lol
  16. Who asked who out first? My daughter and I moved up here and within a month of meeting me at church he called one night and asked me out.
  17. Who wears the pants? Neither one of us views it that way, but he does get the tie breaker vote.

Let's see I guess I'll tag....hmmmmm....tough one....no, not her, no husband. Oh, I know, I'll tag STACEY, and then there's AMANDA,and then there's my new blogger friend BETSY. Have a great time answering these questions about your hubbys!

I WASN'T FINISHED WITH THE WEEKEND YET!

Some weeks I can't wait for Mondays, you know, a fresh start on the work week. Other weeks...well, you get the picture.

PHOTO ENTRY WEEK #5 - SILLY KIDS

I must admit, and for those of you who know my family, I had ALOT of material to choose from, but once again, my granddaughter Logan won out. One of her biggest hobbies is being silly, and at just turning four last month she has mastered the art.

This photo was taken when she was around two and a half.

Please make sure and visit all the other entries at iHeartFaces.

A CHANGE IS A COMIN'

In this new era of handouts and a prevailing attitude of let's see how much money we can get from the government, could this be the "change" we should expect to see?

SLED RIDING LAST YEAR

Yeah, it says "LAST YEAR." I know, it's a year later and clearly there has been sled riding this year, but I just loaded the software that enabled me to get the pictures outta my Blackberry, lol. When I got the thing which was in Feb "LAST YEAR," I thought you just had to connect the cord to the computer and walah, the pics load like with your camera. WRONG!!! Then a couple months later I realized you had to install the disk that came with the phone to upload the pics, which of course by then I couldn't find. Well, today I happened to look over, you know, where I keep all the other disks that I have, and there it was, just like that, it's installed. So here are some pictures taken on February 23, 2008, of Logan's first experience sled riding on the farm.
Logan and her mommy!
Logan and her Pappy! Back up the hill. WOO HOO!!! Nanny, Pappy and Logan (and yes, those are pajamas I'm wearing, don't ask) A little snow snack before heading home. Logan is so tired she needed to be hauled out on the sled stretcher, lol
